Hey ive got myself a new Fender AM Telecaster. And i've still got a horrible 15 watt amp. (very crap amp. but at least it works.) And well i've been looking at amps. Not physically. just on the internet. and well m eyes have been set on a Fender Blues Deville 410. But i'm wondering, will it be too loud? I'm in a band, but also would like to use it at home. And would it be too loud for small venues like a school hall or a pub?

Thanks

Absolutely it would be too loud, especially at home. You want a tube amp that is around 15-30 amps, maybe 40 for playing out ,but it will probably be too loud for home.Go to a music store and thy out a bunch of amps.

A good 20 watt amp is fine. The Deluxe Reverb, Egnater Rebel, Ampeg J20 are all fine amps. I just dumped my Hot Rod Deluxe because 40 watts was too loud and the amp was unreliable. I bought a Rebel 20 and it can get seriously loud, but has incredible tone too.

With a lower wattage amp you can hit the sweet spot without assaulting you ears or your audiences ears. If you need more, just mic it.
If your stage volume is too loud, your mix will sound bad anyway.

If you're looking for a good tube amp that can fit most applications, you should follow 62Supro's advice. Amplifiers between 15 and 20 watts should more than serve your purposes: you can play them at reasonable volume at home, and crank them up (with a mic in front of them) for gigging. I've played heaps of gigs with a 15-watt Fender Pro Junior, and it worked just fine.

The only disadvantage of the PJ -- and most other low-wattage amps -- is that they won't give you enough sound to play with a band when unmic'd. That's why I bought a 40-watt amp.

Oh, 63: is the Egnator loud enough to cut through a band in a jam situation without mics, or would you typically cart along something else with a bit more oomph?

That amp cuts like a knife. It cuts way better than my HRDlx ever did. I may pick up another 1x12 cab for even larger gigs. For small to medium sized clubs, I haven't needed to mic it. I tried it out on an open mic night that a friend of mine was hosting, and it was awesome. I got nothing but compliments.
I've played gigs with a 6 watt 74 Champ through an extension cab mic'd with just a touch through the monitor. Worked great.

Devilles have great tone but, they only go from loud, to louder, its no good having one unless you get an attunator, or play alot of big gigs.

The thing is you shouldn't need an attenuator. I never used one on my Twin. The volume was very easy to control.

This is why i sold my Deville ..It is a fantastic amp but i already have a Twin Reverb which covers playing out but is really hard to get good home practice tones out of unless using a attenuator..I went to a Blues Jr which is still on the verge of being to loud...But if no one is home i can get great tone from it without blowing out the neighbors...But i see a Champion 600 in my near future for home practice when the house is full or late night practice...

Well is possible to get any low wattage valve amps with 10 inch or 12 inch speakers?

Well, buy a small wattage head and hook a big cab to it.

I have a Champ tweed 5w on a 4x12 Marshall.

You can't go wrong with the vintage reissue series. If you're willing to spend that much, get a Princeton Reverb or a Deluxe Reverb (I can't tell you how many guys love them for their ability to get loud, but not earth-shattering). I certainly believe Egnaters could do the trick. You could also get a AC-15, but I think that Fender quality is a bit better.

I agree on the vintage reissue series.I have a 59 bassman reissue and it would blow the blues deville away on a very bad day.Sweetest tone i ever heard.
