Hey everyone! My wife has given me her blessing to pick up a new amp today while The Perfect Guitar is having a sale. I've got my eye on the Blues Deluxe Reissue at http://www.theperfectguitar.com/explore.cfm?STORE=Y&N=106&SN=159&CT=101a&PG=100118101&W=STORE&P=N&S=1001809&U=1&SS=1&CR=Y

So I need advice quickly from anyone out there who has this amp. What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? Is it too much amp for the house? Please share your thoughts as soon as possible. Thank you!

hi mate,

lucky you,, go go go go go

unfortunatly i think they much like the hot rod deluxe, unreliable. or so ive heard anyway, it looks nice tho

and them eminence stock speakers pretty cheap, but it may sound different in those compared to hot rod deluxe.

i say take a deep breath,, and choose something else!!

but go try it tho,

good luck :D

I'd steer clear of anything in the Hot Rod Series. Just my opinion though. Imagine that, huh guy's?
Shane gives you the hint, "Manufactured to be affordable". Take it as you will.

I'd would look for a Deluxe Reverb Reissue or a Bassman. It's hands down a better built, better sounding and more professional amp built for the rigors gigging. Even used they are very affordable.

It doesn't have boutique tone either.
I'll let somebody else tell you what to try out.

Guys, thanks for the quick comeback. I've been reading some of the older posts about the Hot Rod amps, and I definitely see some of the issues some people have had with them. I'm also fairly sure that my small guitar room probably can't handle the output.

So right now I'm wondering whether the Super Champ XD or Vibro Champ XD might make more sense. Both represent an upgrade from my Roland Micro Cube (which will become my backup), and they put out a sound level that would almost certainly be more acceptable to the missus.

Thanks again for your input, and I'd be happy to hear anyone else's thoughts on the matter. 8)

I can tell you I've had my Tweed Blues Deluxe for 3 years and I use it like a work horse. It is a strong tube amp @ 40 watts. It has a very nice clean typical Fender sound, the overdrive comes in nice and strong as well. I'm not an expert on sound, but for me, if you are searching for a GREAT Fender amp, the Deluxe Reverb is always the amp of choice. It has 22 watts, but very strong and powerful if you're wanting it for home use, yet more than enough for small venue's. Abit more in the pocket book but an outstanding amp. Would I replace the Blues Deluxe if stolen, lost excetera, YES. Maybe your wife can convince mine to give a the Green light also. Good luck

It depends on what your plans are.I have a large house and can play my bassman and super reverb( i also have a blues deluxe and a blues jr).I would say the blues deluxe is too loud for most homes. If you plan on gigging and can spend the money, i would have to say a deluxe reverb more than the xd series. The deluxe reverb is a heck of an amp, its manageable even in some apartments and it is a very gigable and durable amp.If you arent planning on gigging , the field is wide open.maybe even a classic 30 or blues jr.

For an amp that sounds good, is highly versatile, sells for a decent price and can perform at volumes ranging from bedroom to bandstand, you should go play through an Egnater Rebel.

63Supro and I both own them and I think i can speak for him when I say we're knocked out by them.

Yep
It fits the bill perfectly. Goes from 1 watt to 20 watts with the turn of a dial. Need 3 watts, 5 watts, 11 watts. You get the picture. 6V6 and EL84 tubes that you can blend.
It's a must see amp.

Well, many thanks to everyone who responded. After work, I ducked into Guitar Center and tested the Blues Deluxe Reissue, the Blues Junior NOS, the Super Champ XD and the Vibro Champ XD. Based on tone, features, price and the size of my room, I ultimately decided on the Super Champ XD. I'm somewhat cynically hoping that my wife will be so impressed with the fact that I went with a cheaper amp that she'll smile on my eventual purchase of a '72 Telecaster Deluxe. But that's a battle for another day. 8)

I would agree with some of the previous posts that the Blues Deluxe is way too loud to use as a practice amp at home. It's a great amp for playing with a band. It takes pedals well and is generally versatile tonally speaking. But, if you are planning on playing it at home, especially a small room or apartment, you will really want to think twice. If you go to a music store to play it, be sure to put it through its paces at several volume levels. Do find out what the lowest feasible volume for playing it is. Best of luck to you.
