There ya go -- note that you said essentially the same thing and yet did so in totally conversational, insightful way that's sure to inspire interesting followup posts. You get a gold star! LOL. :D[/quote]

Thanks. Again my apologies to Super Sonic fans.

The Super Sonic is the equivalent of the Harley V-Rod. Evolution but with classic legacy form factor.

The ability to split the carrying weight off between two boxes, the huge bottom end closed cabs are capable of, the mix n match possibilities between head and cab, and the comfortable mid-size form factor of the original Fender piggybacks (as opposed to the ridiculous dimensions and weight of the 100+lb 4-12 bottoms and giant 100+-wattt heads) are all strong selling points.

Chicago blues bands of the 60's toured with nothing but Fender piggybacks. Muddy's bassist played a 2-12 Bassman (but finally escalated up to the Dual Showman 2-15). Bandmasters were very common. Add a sprinkling of Super Reverbs and a few Concerts and that was the backline. It was really Butterfield's band that heralded in the huge wall of sound with Bloomfield's evil Twin. Heck, Elvin Bishop was playing a relatively wimpy Pro Reverb.

The volume of Muddy's band and Howlin Wolf's with all the 35-40 watt 2-6L6 piggybacks was perfect. The Butterfield Band was ridiculously loud and ushered in a kind of demand for sheer volume as a literal clubbing of your head which never really quit since.

Today with Franz Ferdinand playing all BJs and of course Beck and Los Lobos and many other top acts finally respecting their cochleal parts and those of their audience by playing small Fender combos, the time is right for a return to the classic, great Fender mid-size Piggybacks!

Two weeks to go. I don't care what Shane sez, I'm holding my breath.

A line of all-tube MIC (made in China) PCB Fender piggybacks with DIGITAL REVERB--selectable spring or convolution engine. Heads:

Tubemaster head: 2 6V6 22 watts, tube rectifier, classic BF styling, small and light. Tone for miles. Street: $399.

Bluesblaster head: 2 6L6 40 watts, classic BF styling, easy to carry midsize. Soon to be the new staple of bands everywhere. Street: $499.

Soloist cabinet: one Celestion V30 on board, classic black & silver styling matching above. Light, small, easy to carry. Removeable back panel for conversion to open-back. Street: $199.

Dualist cabinet: two Celestion V30s on board, classic black & silver, same size as original Bandmaster bottom. Street: $299.

Fender will also offer a variety of alternative speakers which can be custom-loaded at the factory for a small additional charge.

The reason for going digital with the reverb is simple: size, weight, cost and the impossibility of installing a full-length spring tank in the form factor of the heads. If you've heard the latest digital reverbs in tube amps lately (like the Epiphone Valve series), you know they sound great.

The above would create a new Fender revolution in amps. Because the market is definitely there.

Mere hours to go now and so far all we know is Fender is bringing a new line of pedals emphasizing "expression"--whatever that means. I assume we'll get the usual intro of even more Strat variations (zzzzzzzzzzzz) but it's AMPS that amp me up, baby! Lately in order for companies to get the jump on everybody else, some companies have started releasing their PR's a day or two before the opening day of the show.

So how about getting a HUGE jump on the competition and announcing right here and right now, Fender? (crickets and frog sounds)

That's the spirit! I am channeling a vision--I see Andy or Shane in here giving us a link to Fender press releases HOURS BEFORE they go out to the general public!!! I see Fender faithful flocking to this site because THIS IS THE PLACE!!!

Whew, where am I? I sure hope I didn't reveal anything covered in my non-disclosure agreement!

With mere minutes to go before NAMM opens, I'll go way out on a limb here and make two wild, shot-in-the-dark predictions (goes into trance with tremulous(tm) hands over a lone 6L6GC tube):

Fender will launch a new line of pedals emphasizing "Expression".

Fender will introduce a new variation of Stratocaster guitar slightly different than the 2,749 versions out currently.

Whew, I musta been channeling Leo there for a sec. Where's Alistair Crowley when ya need him?

Summer NAMM was a total bust. Fender apparently was a no-show. It'll be much better back in Nashville next year, which is why this year was so dead. Some political thing going down, nobody wanted to come to Austin, and they didn't. There's general shock over what a major zero the show was--the deadest in many years. A scattering of companies showed mostly what they already had debuted last Winter (Peavey's Windsor Studio, etc). Even the stalwart music press is shrugging--nothing much to talk about. No videos, demos, nada. Probably later today a few will trickle in, but essentially it's a pass.

What's Fender's take on Lost in Austin???

I predict that the cyber-series amps will soon have a USB out.

Yeah, that makes total sense. So many companies are going there with similar products. That Crate Profiler 5 is really showing the way for everybody else.

I mean, you fire up the DAW. You get rockin immediately and you just flip on the amp. Ya got models and efx quickly tweakable with REAL KNOBS. You get the right sound, and now, instead of digging out the SM57 and finding the mic stand and running the cable and setting up your mixer levels and yelling at the dog or the GF to SHUT UP!

...with direct record via USB, you just open a track and GO. Lay down whatever now complete with the sound you tweaked with REAL KNOBS.

Yep. It's coming. In fact, if you don't have it, your modeling product is gonna fail.
