The 63 reissue Vibroverb was produced between 1990 and 1995.

I have had one since 1992 (bought it new) and it is the best amp I've ever owned; I would compare it to any other amp--vintage, modern or in-between--and it can hold it's own.

It is also equally good for guitar and harp (harmonica for all you non-blues cats); Some that are great for guitar sound like crud for harp (and vice-versa).

The only negative things I can say about the 63RI VV:
--beware the stock "Oxford-style" speakers (they just aren't that great, unfortunately); They are a little flabby sounding and a little delicate. I replaced mine with some Eminences about nine years ago, and have had no problem since
--this is the loudest 40-watt amplifier I've ever played through, and it doesn't break up until you really crank it. Fortunately, it responds well to effects pedals (some amps don't!), and a well-placed overdrive pedal (like an Ibanez TubeScreamer or a Danelectro Daddy-O) is a great investment, if you want overdrive at lower volumes.

I would recommend Eurotubes.com whenever you get ready to re-tube your baby; they will select a well-matched set according to what you want (I asked for a set that would break up a little quicker while keeping the fat tone this amp is known for--they delivered!). It is a non-adjustable-bias amp, so all you have to do is plug & play.

Congrats on your new acquisition--I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the input and info. These speakers are not the stock ones, but I can't tell what they are,no name on them, and the tubes are chinese GL6g's.The foot pedal didn't come with so I'll probably be looking for the fender one,but just might try a few others also, but I am mostly a rythm player, singer.

If the back of your speakers are kinda brownish-gold colored, they might be the original Oxford-style speaker; My originals had no identifying marks, either (you would have thought they would have at least said "Fender" or something).

Today I spoke to a guy who I trust with anything I own amp-wise (as far as repairs) and he suggested Kendrick Blackframe speakers for anybody wanting to keep a vintage 10" Fender speaker sound (Super Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb, Bassman, '63RI Vibroverb, etc.) except with the tighter bottom end and a bit more clarity--no woofiness. I'm considering switching out my Eminence 50W speakers just because I'm always "searching"

G.A.S. is beginning to act up again!

I bought one in 1995 and still play it weekly. It has a most singular character, somewhere between tweed and blackface. I haven't found anything quite like it among new amplifiers.

For more information regarding all the Vibroverb (the original 1963 & 1964, as well as the reissues), look up the http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibroverb article in Wikipedia.

They guy who wrote it is brilliant :P and it gives a great overview of the history of the amplifier.

I put some 50W Eminences in my 63RI Vibroverb--sounds rich, full and punchy--and that floppy bottom end of the Oxfords was corrected...

There's a technician from Charley's Guitars in Dallas who I trust with anything I own amp-wise (as far as repairs) and he suggested Kendrick Blackframe speakers for anybody wanting to keep a vintage 10" Fender speaker sound (Super Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb, Bassman, '63RI Vibroverb, etc.) except with the tighter bottom end and a bit more clarity--no woofiness.

I just got my 3rd one of these beauties. Bought one brand new in 1992 and foolishly sold it. Bought another about a year ago from the original owner that was all original, including the tubes. Sold it 6 months later (I know, what was I thinking??). 3 months ago, there was a mint condition one sitting at one of my local GC's at an amazing price. Couldn't pass it up. The original speakers had been swapped out for Jensen RI's, which sound great with this amp. This one isn't going anywhere; great for home playing and loud enough to gig with.

What makes my story really amazing, is that another of my local GC's had a pretty beat-up one for sale for 5-6 hundred MORE than what I paid for mine. Tolex was torn, grill cloth ripped, I sure don't know how they justified the price on that one.

Thanks guys,I found a site that recommended Jensen c10q 8 ohm.Aren't Kendricks a bit pricey?The 50W Eminences might work also I suppose.I wish I could try them all out,haha.
