I recently purchased a Super Champ XD as my first tube amp. I already own a GDEC and FM212DSP. While I like the Super Champ I really felt that there would be more difference in sound as opposed to the solid state amps. It may just be me but I can get identical tones with the FM212DSP or GDEC. I'm using a MIM Strat and an Epiphone Les Paul. I think the GDEC and FM212DSP are great sounding but I was expecting a little more from the SCXD. I realize that the SCXD has digital effects but the clean channel seems the same to me. I play mostly blues and if anyone has suggested settings I would appreciate your input.

I use the "jazz" emulation (#15 model) and reverb on somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 or the clean setting.

If I need any OD at all, I have a TS-808 which I use with the clean channel on. The 808 is set to give me just a hint of OD.

All that being said, I go more for an old blues sound, sometimes nearly acoustic. I rarely go for a what I'd call "rock" blues sound with a lot of drive or distortion and sustain.

The guitars I mainly use for blues are an 02 AmStd Strat, an AmStd Ash Tele and a Yamaha AES1500 semi-hollow.

A couple of things. All of the voices on the SuperChamp, including the "Clean" channel #1, are DSP. So there is no true tube preamp to this particular model. Works for me, at my low experience level and my needs, but may not meet yours.

Here is a link to BillM's website where he lists a number of useful settings for the amp:
