I just got a new strat and am thinking about a Deluxe VM or a Super Champ XD.I played the S Champ XD and thought it was a pretty cool little amp.
Id say it is the more versatile of the two probably.I`m looking for great cleans to classic rock crunchy. I want that clean Fender snap n pop like country players mostly.

How are these amps fairing with the masses?

Wish I had kept one of my Fenders of past.
Princeton Reverb ,early Silverface Deluxe Reverb,I even had one of those Cyber deluxe for a while also.

Well, bottom line I need a Fender amp again!

My advice is to forget the VM or XD series and go for something deceptively simple: a Blues Jr. or even a Pro Jr. You can get an amazing array of tones from these little honk boxes, and they sound way better than anything else their size.

I have an SCXD and love it. Decent variety of tones for a relatively basic amp and 10" speaker. I mostly use it either clean or on the "Jazz" setting with reverb up about 1/3 but the other "clean-ish" settings (e.g., vintage tweed) aren't bad either.

I haven't tried the distortion settings because I rarely use distortion (and when I do, use my TS-808 'cause I know the settings I want).

It's portable, can work in small gig settings as long as you're not competing with a drummer, etc.

There are some great smaller amps too but I found the SCXD was the closest to the sounds I go for (jazz, blues, small amount of classic rock, electric folk, vintage funk/soul etc. but no metal and nothing harsh or over the top distorted).

It depends on the type of sound you want. One amp you may want to consider is the Deluxe Reverb. You can still find them used for beteen 600 and 700.Great all around versitile amp.The Blues Jr amp is an ok amp if you dont gig much.Has a tendency to sound boxy.I cant really speak for the scxd or the deluxe vm, but the DRRI is an amp you will have for a long time.Keep in mind that the Blues jr is limited in the low end due to the el84 s.
