I have a 96 model.Bought it used at GC really cheap. The tweed was filthy and had a few minor tears. It had a replacement speaker fir one of the speakers.I ended up replacing the speaker with an OEM one , took it apart and cleaned the tweed some repairing the small tears and used honey pine minwax on the cabinet. It looks great and sounds unbelievable. It came with JAN Phillips wgb power tubes and a tube rectifier. It keeps a 75 super reverb in the closet as well as a blues deluxe and a blues jr. I would put it up against just about any amp, it sounds awesome and has the nicest sounding overdrive i have ever heard. With my tubescreamer or cranked to 7.I believe people use a ss rectifier to get a more headroom out of it.

Thanks for the reply.

I knew there had to be a Bassman RI guy here.

I'm all about 5AR4 tube rectifiers, its all about the sag, compression !!!

However is the tone going to worth the lack of reverb ??? can I live without it, even though I don't use much of it, like #3 on the Deville.

90 % of what I play is Blues and blues Rock, Clapton, SRV, ZZ Top Zeppelin ect.....

I can buy this one fairly well also, we'll just say less than half of its original price.

Or is there a reverb pedal that sounds good ????

The Holy Grail I tried wasn't bad

To be honest, you wont even miss the reverb. It has almost a natural reverb to it.The tone is unbelievable. It will blow your deville out of the water any day of the week.Like i said , it keeps my 75 Super Reverb in the closet and unplayed.I think my SR is a great amp, but the breakup of the BMRI is to die for. Also keep in mind , its not the glassy clean of the blackface amps, but its tweed all the way.And built like a tank.A real warhorse. You wont be sorry if you bought it.

Its a done deal anyway, the guy is bringing it by this weekend.

I don't know if you saw my other thread but I also have a 1947-48 TV fron Princeton I just bought (still waiting on a speaker).

Someone had replaced the speaker with a 16 ohm ceramic dog and so I've been scouring the world for a 3.2 ohm alnico.

I found one on e-bay, a 1960's Utah 3.2 ohm and it will be here maybe in the morning mail, I hope !!!

So I'm going to be in heaven this weekend.

I'll post pictures soon.

Awesome. One thing about the bassman is i never have the bass turned up past 4.I know some people say it flubs out when cranked, but its because they have the bass turned up like most amps at 7-9 .Thats why they call it a bassman.

Idont do it, but some people put a short jumper from the normal channel to the bright.Imputs 1 i believe , then they plug into input 2 on the bright channel. This allows them to mix the 2 channels using the volume pots from each.

It arrived today !!!!!

The guy had swapped out the 5AR4 and put in a GU ??? something sorry can't remember right now.

I had a NOS mullard 5AR4 and so I put it in, to tell the truth I like the softer later break up of the Gu whatever it is.

The 5AR4 gets dirty way fast compared to this other rectifier tube.

and the thing has 12Ax7's in all three preamp slots, I thought it was a 12AY7 in V-1 ????

Sounds devine by the way !!!!!
