I've been using a HRDeville 4/10 since Jan. In that short amount of time, the amp gremlins have assulted me, at a gig, on 3 seperete occasions. The amp completely died for about a half hour and then all of a sudden started working again. Not wanting to deal with this again, I've decided to swap it for something more reliable. I've been considering the Orange Rockverb 50w head. I play in a cover band that does everything from Cash to Slash so i need something versatile. Looking for a classic rock/blues tone that breaks up well with good articulation. Wondring if anybody has had any experience with the Rockverb or any Orange products? Any reliability issues? How's the tone quality? Overall impression? Any other suggestions?

I have to suggest the new GC-exclusive Egnaters. The Rebel 20 is awesome (I own one), the new Rebel 30 combo (which I haven't played) is a channel switching version of Rebel goodness, and the Tourmaster amps represent ungodly on-stage versatility. Also, I think they sound good.

SlapChop,
Good news! I just sold my HRDlx this morning and as soon as GC opens, I'm picking up a Rebel 20. I tried the 30 and it seems to be voiced a little differently than the 20. Still a really nice amp, but I really really like the 20. Besides, I won't get tube rattle with a head. Also the reverb in the 30 is digital. It didn't really ring my chimes.

You bet! I was tired of searching for a tone that that amp wasn't capable of producing. Also, it felt like I was sitting on a time bomb.

Not to hijack this thread, but the Egnater Rebel 20 head looks like a wicked amp. I saw it in a guitar catalogue I was reading at work, and I thought it would be a cool amp to take for a spin. Doesn't it have some sort of feature wherein one can mix different output valve sounds together?

I just got it home. This thing is crazy cool. You can use either the 6V6 or EL84's or blend them. It's built like a tank and uses Birch for the cabinet. The tonal variations are unlimited. It can get seriously loud and has really decent headroom too. So far I'm really happy with it.

Vulkan, that's exactly what it does. Blend the two sets of tubes in any degree you like (I love the way sounds at a 50/50 blend). The wattage control is totally usable, the tone stack works great, the effects loop is so clean (I run an old Lexicon rack unit in mine right now), multi-tap transformer so you can run 4, 8 or 16 ohms... if you can't make this thing sound good, it's you. :)

'63Supro, I still lurk the old place once in a while, and saw what has got to be your post. NOW I know who you were! Congrats.

Anyway, to stay OT: don't buy that Orange til you play an Egnater.

Yeah, I saw your post in the other Fender forum too! Good luck Supro! I couldn't post in the other forum cause I never signed up. I just browse.

63 & Slapchop: that Egnater sounds like a very cool amp indeed! I actually just got a HRDX and, despite hearing very mixed reviews, was happy to take it at the offered price. In any event, I'll certainly look at an Egnater next time I'm in the market for an amp. What are they worth, by the way?

I've had a ago on a Rockerverb 50 and I liked it alot. Whenever I get another expensive amp, its gonna be that amp.
It works really well with pedals too.

If your Hot Rod is doing it for you that's great!
Don't trade in the Hot Rod at GC, they only offered me $275 for mine. I sold it on Craig's List for $450. Everybody beats you up because of the rep of the amp but everybody wants one. Go figure.

The Egnater was $849. I had a 15% coupon for a trade up, so I took an old crappy distortion pedal I didn't use anymore. Even though GC lists the Egnater as a Half stack, they only gave me the discount on the head. What a scam. I wish you could get them locally besides GC of MF. I hate dealing with huge chains.
