I recently bought a used (mint) Super-Sonic 112 and I am amazed with this amp! I have spent so much more for so much less! Anyway, I was wondering, does anyone have any idea about the two gain stages, what one does, compared to the other? The manual is not very clear. Or is it just about playing around with them till you find the sounds you like?

I just purchased a slightly used super sonic combo, as well. I think its a great amp! As for the dual gain stages...I think that it is a pre and post gain setup- which would be pre amp gain and gain some where else in the circuit. I don't really know the specifics of it. I use gain 1 quite a bit, but not much if any of gain 2. 1 sounds more natural, to me, but 2 can add some nice compression. I know that the super sonic is related to the pro sonic, so it might be the same setup as that amp.
