Hi everyone, complete rookie here  I found this site while researching a 1995 Blues Deluxe I just bought used. The covering looks like it's been to a couple of wars, bought it from a marine, not sure if he's retired or not, but a really nice guy and gave me what I think was a good price for an amp of this caliber. It seems to work fine, is plenty loud, but sounds good to my ears, no pops, all the tubes light up and as far as I know everything is working just fine for an amp that has sat idle for 4 years. I do have a couple of questions as I am a rookie player and a rookie when it comes to amps, especially tube amps.

What would be the best way to clean the covering on the amp? It is a tweed with a brown grill cloth. I tried 409 and gonzo stain remover and if they are working, I cant tell as it takes forever for them to dry. I did small sections on the bottom of the amp, so no worries about chemical reactions at this point. I will check them again in the morning to see if there is any difference once dry.

One other question I have is about possibly using headphones with this amp. There is no dedicated headphone jack, however the speaker is connected to the output using a standard 1/4 jack. This is located inside the cabinet near the tubes. This amp does not have the configuration as shown in the pdf's of the Blues Delux Reissue with the "V" main speaker and "W" external speaker. I assume this is an earlier model. There is only 1 output jack and it is wired to direct to the speaker. Is it possible to unplug this speaker and plug in headphones to this jack?

I bought this amp because I wanted to try a "real" all tube amp and I'm not dissapointed so far, got a long way to go with it. At this stage in my playing, I need good sound from my amps to give me confidence and time to practice. I would like to practice with this amp without keeping the wife and kids up.

Any help you guys can provide would be appreciated. Looking forward to reading enough here to be able to answer questions like this and more in the future... I dont join forums for 1 question, I usually like to participate and I have a had a guitar/Amp OCD issue for 6 months now.

Don't unplug the speaker to use this jack for headphones. If the amp is on and you remove the load(speaker) you can damage the transformers.Headphones will not safely replace the speaker load!!!!!!! 8) Mike

The blues deluxe is pretty loud over all. Definately do not try headphones with this amp.I would either get a cheap practice amp with headphones or in my case , i have a pocket pod to use with headphones. As far as cleaning the tweed, i had a Bassman reissue that was dirty and ended up using carpet and stain remover with some results, but you want to tryit on a inconspicuous area first. Some of the stains stayed, but i lacquered it and it looks like an old vintage amp.

You guys are quick, I appreciate that.

Couple of more questions, if you dont mind.

I have too many amps here, collected them with craigslist purchases. Most of them are not up to par with this amp, but I do have a VOX VT15 that has a tube preamp and a headphone out. Could I feed the BDLX into this amp? I see nothing in the manual that suggests this is not possible, but I do understand Cherokees warning about the load on the amp. that is mentioned in something I read elsewhere, not sure where. I dont know alot about feeding one amp into another, or into a cab for that matter.

As far as cleaning the amp, I read there is a difference in what you can use if the tweed was laquered or not. does anyone know if the 95's were laquered at the factory?

No lacquer from the factory. As far as feeding the Blues deluxe into the Vox, i believe it would meet with some bad results. For starters, the Blues Deluxe is a much higher wattage , and it would be too hot of a signal. It would release the flying monkeys.
