So I took the plunge and bought a Hot Rod Deluxe. It sounds awesome, and will be perfect for my band's upcoming gigs. As much as I love my Pro Junior, it just doesn't have enough oomph to do a big stage.

Looking forward to getting some serious play time on it!

I find myself comparing every amp to it. My hotrod has a great tone, nice cleans , takes pedals well and is a great giging amp! I just bought a twin reverb for the sweetest cleans I have ever heard but considered getting another hot rod! (a back up? IDK I just like the amp that much!)

You probably will enjoy it immensely. They're very popular, seem to be quite versatile and are easy to modify. They are the "57 Chevy" of amps, to a fair degree. I loved the clean sound mine produced, and the amps distortion wasn't bad either. Have fun!

I've had my Hot Rod Deluxe for about three years, and have been very happy with it. I use it for practice......and for playing with other people. I've had no problems so far.

1: "I think Blah Blah Blah is perfect."

2: "No, it isn't... here's a whole bunch of anecdotal and empirical evidence that shows that it is not perfect."

1: "Well, that's ONE side to the story."

You know that's not a legitimate argument, right?

So I played my first gig with my new HRDx last night. It was a big club -- it holds about a thousand, I think -- and during the soundcheck I had the volume on "5." The sound guy said that, at that level, it was loud enough that he didn't need to have it in the mix. I love this amp!

1,000 people? On 5? Why would the sound man not want to add you to the mix? In my experience and I've played everything form tiny clubs to large festivals, most soundmen want to control the whole mix.

It was strange, I'll admit. I was surprised when he told me. I had no conception of what was going through the house mix, but I was following the golden rule of rock: don't piss off the sound guy. I wasn't about to question his technique!
