Man the specs sound good so far.

Someone give us a review as soon as you play one.

My local Mom & Pop Fender store probably won't get one.

hand wired, tube rectifier

Weber speaker

Yep it's not worth that kind of coin. 5 watts one knob one grand? Nah not me.

So you played through it ???

I believe the reason Fender took the time to re-make this little wonder was not to compete with a twin or a stack, but as a tone machine to mic with a PA or for recording.

The formula they used to build this amp just has to sound awesome.

But hey, again I can only comment on the ingredients, I have yet to be able to plug in.

A friend of mine picked one up in NY. He has deep pockets and is a session musician. His had a little cabinet buzz. So he's going to sun it back. A 5e3 clone will sound just as good if not better and have more tonal variation. You can build the Champ yourself.

The 57 sounds good, don't get me wrong, it's just way over priced for what it is. You can get an original 57 for not much more. They are practice/recording amps. One trick ponies. You can also get nice boutique amp in that price range. The 57 Fender Deluxe 5e3 is way overpriced too.

Remember, these amps were designed 52 years ago. FMIC didn't have to design them from scratch, do R&D etc. just pull out the schematic.
You can buy a clone kit and build it to your own taste.

IMHO Fenders pricing has gone completely insane. It's a shame, it just gets harder and harder to afford a good US made piece of Fender equipment.

Just got mine.
The time to change the AC plug and it was ON
I'd call it a Little Big Amp.
Don't expect crystal clear sounds; this wasn't the purpose.
But up to 5 you get a grainy woody sound well fitted for blues or single pups guitars giving them some personality.
Between 5 and 8 you get a quite impressive sound. Just play power chords with a Tele and you think you are Keith Richards.
Above 8 up to 12 (!) it's Shake, Rattle & Roll...
I'll record with it as you can get a "Huge" sound in a little volume and a reasonnable Db level ( EC recorded Layla with one..)
Believe me at 6 it already delivers like one of his Big Bros.
A keeper.

Sweet !!!!
Kinda what I was expecting from it.

I got Amp gas bad !!!

Hopefully my last two amp purchases will keep me busy enough to forget about the new champ for a while.

Anybody notice that many of these little 5-watt combos tend to sound execrable with humbuckers? I've never been able to get a satisfactory sound from any small valve combo with a humbucker-equipped guitar.

Depends of which humbuckers you are talking about.
With a Cabronita fitted with TV Jones you get the real thing (see Shane Nicholas demo)
