Hi everyone. This week I picked up the amp everyone loves to hate. The dreaded red knob Dual Showman. Compounded by being hooked up to the dreaded Randall Jaguar loaded Randall cab.

Now if you can get past that, I took the amp apart to look at the guts, you know, make sure nothing was burnt up and it looks amazingly good. Mind you, I'm no amp expert, I was simply looking for burnt spots on the PCB and leaky caps.

I saw something that just doesn't look good but I don't know what it's called and what it does, so I snapped a picture and I now present it to you. This way when I call my amp tech I can say, "hey, the thingamobs are toast, can you replace them for me?" But in a much more educated way.

Can you look at the picture and tell me what they are? Thanks in advance to anyone who comments. (I looked online but couldn't find it.)

Looks like a pair of cooked cement resistors.

Thanks! I'll go with the cement resistors answer. I tried to call my amp guy up today but he is on vacation until monday. :(

Yup ... can see "R129" on the PCB by the front one, and you will likely find "R..." by the other. That indicates a resistor on any PCB I've ever seen.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to locate a schematic that indicates each component's PCB number so I couldn't ID the pair. If I had to take a 100% totally wild guess, I'd say they were the two associated with the two filter caps in the power supply. (My other clue -- I see two filter caps just to the right of the resistors.)

Us old geezers always called the "cement" same thing. Looks like they may be tied in with the power supply, but it's hard to tell from the photo.
