PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST (OR TRY TO) BEFORE VOTING AND/OR DISCUSSING. THANKS

alright, i realize these two may be on different levels, so at first, it's a weird matchup, but hear me out.

i've read alot of bickering back and forth comparing the Blues Jr with the classic 30, and as usual, it's almost neck and neck.

MEANWHILE, there has been A LOT of love for the Pro Jr over the Blues Jr. Seems the PJ is just a better sounding amp compared to the BJ (according to many users all over the interweb). many say the BJ gets muddy more easily.

i've played all 3 at one point. frankly, i cant decide for myself, its a close call.

but anyway, now you might see why i'm making this poll. those who chose Classic 30 over BJ seemed to have reasons similar to those who choose PJ over BJ. so considering that, i wanted to see how the PJ would do in the BJ's place.

Some things are going to have to be waived aside for this poll in order to avoid handicap's. We know that the Classic 30 has a 12" speaker versus the PJ 10", and has 2x the power as the PJ. The C30 also has more versatility via 2 channels and 3-band EQ. Many PJ owners will argue though that the 2 knob simplicity is it's beauty and actually contributes to its pure and uncolored tone. most also claim that 15 watts into a 10" speaker is still very giggable. less headroom tends to be the reason why the C30 is better in gigs, though recall that the earlier breakup is also favorable for some...its all subjective (which makes these polls rather pointless i suppose, but what the heck)

basically, my goal in this poll is to focus on sound quality and tonal character. discuss the favorable aspects of each amp's sound, such as tone spectrum, how they overdrive (smooth, harsh, warm, etc.?). stuff like that.

also i suppose reliability would be a good area of focus also, things like tube life, amp build, craftsmanship, durability, overall amp longevity...

alright, have at it!

I have a Classic 30. It's modified with JJ tubes, and I got it that way so I can't tell you what it was like stock. It's very loud, very gigable, and it sounds pretty good (my Fender Deluxe VM sounds better.) I think that if I changed the stock speaker it would sound better. The Classic 30 hardly overdrives at all, I never ever use the gain channel because there's hardly any gain. That's what they make pedals for.

My PJ with an Eminince Rajin Cajun is one of the best newer amps that I've ever played through. 20 pounds of tone!!!

The sweet spot is at about 4 1/2 on the volume and 2 on the tone.
