Maybe its just me, but everytime i go into a music store They seem to have more used Twin Reverbs than anything else.I would have to gather that there are alot of people out there who buy one cuz its "THE " sound that they think they have to have and get it home and realize its a heavy beast or they realize it makes their ears bleed trying to get the tone they want.I know many people consider this the Holy Grail of Fender amps, but to me the Holy Grail of amps is one that i can use in the real world.I would rather mic an amp and get great tone than have to wrestle with the volume control.Just saying.

Good observation-

I horse traded my HRDX for a vintage blackface Champ for that exact reason. The HRDX (40 watts - 47 #) went from zero to earsplitting and the wife and kids hated to hear that thing get fired up. I play for my own enjoyment so I didn't need that much amp.

I am a convert and firm believer in small wattage amps. I am hoping to add either a blackface Princeton or a silverface Princeton Reverb to my Champ. That should be more than enough to keep me out of trouble. :D

I have a client who is a professional sound/PA system dude. He's told me more than once they just disconnect all of one or two of those stacks when they are miccing a band. The PA system does the volume work.... you need the amp to do the tone work. So more wattage isn't necessarily the answer.

LOL, you can always spot the Twin Reverb players. Their right arm is six inches longer than their left. Seriously, I think the weight issue is the biggest factor there. After I move my Twin, I have to sit down and take a rest. I recently got a DRRI with the intent of selling my Twin afterwards. I just can't seem to part with it though...

I know, i have a super reverb that weighs 80 lbs and i probably will keep it even if i just play through it at home.I have a Bassman that is lighter and i play out with either that or my Blues deluxe.

Yeah your dead on, on this one. Most people don't ditch them because they don't like them but because of the weight.

Seriously, I always considered my self to be a pretty strong dude. No pansy here kind of guy. Until I got a Twin. Taking that thing to practice and the likes just seriously killed me. There is nothing I hate worse than sweating before the first note is played, so this weekend I traded it.

I got a Fender Dual Showman head on a Randall cab. The worst part? The showman head is almost as heavy as the Twin. Can't win for losing I tell ya!

(BTW the Twin's sound is everything they say it is and is one of the best amps I have ever owned.)

I traded mine for a supersonic that broke down in six months traded that up for a blues deville never happier never ever should have traded my twin it`s the one of the most reliable amps on earth. The most important thing when you go to a gig is when your ready to perform is that your amp TURNS ON!!!

Well I just got one second-hand, and I'm struggling alot to get the sound I want - especially with my pedals. For my pedals to sound how I want them I have to have the volume, at the lowest, on four.
I'v done one gig with it now and I got what I wanted it to do on that but I had to dump the fuzz face because it makes the volume go way over the top and it makes it sound like a completely different amp.

EDIT: And the weight. Jeez

Yep, its 10 pounds heavier than my bassman and 13 pounds heavier than a DRRI.

I can't see why the twin has only 2 speakers, and the bassman has four and the twins heavier. Is the super reverb heavy?

Well I switched to a Dual Showman head/cab setup and it is essentially an evil twin in head form. The head alone weighs a TON. I would assume the chassis is where the weight is at with the speakers only adding a bit more.

The Super Reverb is about 64#.same as the Twin Reverb.I do know you are way more likely to find a used Twin than you are a used Super Reverb.
