Any word on when this amp is coming out? Is it out already?
Two music retailers online had it listed but say it is backordered and new stock is on the way.
Can anyone tell me it it is actually being made? I need one for sure!
Does anyone own one?
On the main page it says only the Champ repro is a new for 2007 vintage modified amp.

Seems nobody is awake at Fender.
But one retailer has told me by email:

Hello-This is a new item that has yet to be released. Our most recent
expected date is 10/12/07.

Thanks for the interest.

So it seems like the Super Champ XD will live.

Word is very soon--Shane says "within a few weeks."

This is certainly a most exciting product and significant for a few reasons. It's the first affordable 6V6-based amp Fender has brought in a long time. And us 6V6 fans abound. And it's not just affordable, but at $299 it's a bargain.

A big outstanding question is: does the single 12AX7 serve as merely a phase inverter as it did in the highly-regarded Music Man hybrid series, or is there a solid-state inverter and the 12AX7 is tasked in the pre-amp stage as a gain element which would add saturation, warmth and compression? All us tube freaks hope for the latter of course.

Apparently the preamp/DSP front end has been lifted from the FM 25/65 DSP series. Same controls. Not necessarily a bad thing, that is one good-sounding SS amp. Check out Shane wailing on it on YouTube.

At 24 pounds and giggable, all I can say is...WOW. Giggable? Sure, it's got a line out, goes right into your PA for all the extra oomph you might need. Or bring a cab for a larger gig, it's got an extra spkr out. Remember the BJ is just 15 watts as well, and lots of guys gig with them. Though it remains to be seen if since this is a hybrid the watt rating is equal to a 100% tube amp output.

It looks like there is a straight amp channel one, no modeling, and channel 2 goes through the amp modeling. This is kind of bizarre in that you can't get two levels (rhythm/lead) out of either the straight channel OR the modeler. Your rhythm has to be "unmodeled" and your lead has to be one of 16 modeled presets. That's very strange.

And I'd love to know if the line out has any speaker modeling to more accurately represent the sound of the amp as it would be miked--this is critical to PA amplification and recording.

I think Fender learned its lesson from the Princeton Recording amp: no more "scarface" ugly silver bands across the front. Keep it classic and BF, not SF! And that hideous "modern" logo script from the SuperSonic is out: we got classic script here...sweet.

Me and about 8 million other folks are very curious to hear this $299 hybrid A/B'd against an $849 DRRI. My guess is that it holds up very well indeed. And the DRRI can't adopt 16 other personalities w/efx at the flip of a knob. I'd use that right in the studio to save time over a raft of noisy pedals and other amps. Time is money.

While the jury is still out on whether this is a home run or not, I'd say Big Papi is just standing at the plate watching this thing sail high over the Green Monster heading for the Mass Pike. It's a Left Field Giant.

BTW, to purists who say fie...FIE ON THIS for not being a 100% tube amp, I say balderdash!

Let's look at a few modern tone gods...SRV for starters. All tube, right? Wait, what's that little green metal box on the floor there??? OMG...it HAS NO TUBES IN IT!!!! IT'S AN SS PREAMP!!!

Yo Eric, love your '57 Twin. All tubes, the consummate purist right? O wait, what's that switcher on the stage...running into...A BANK OF SS RACK GEAR!!! SOLID STATE FRONT END AGAIN! Johnny Mayer purist tone boy/God...box, box, boxy box, all SS before the voltage ever hits glowing Two-Rock tubetown.

So when thee contemplate these lowly hybrids, think outside the metal box. These little suckers come with free SS metal boxes right inside like Crackerjack toys. And who can resist a surprise in every box?

I'd like to try one of these because I'm looking for something very much like this. Elsewhere in this forum, someone complained about a Vox Valvetroix amp he bought, an AD50VT I think. He couldn't find a good tone. I had a similar experience at the local GC with an AD30VT. These XDs seem to be much the same thing -- 2 or 3 tubes and some digital effects.

I'm not what marketing people call an "early adopter", but I'm seriously considering ordering one of these . . . and MF has the great return policy.

Well thing is, a harmonically-rich, warm 6V6 power stage is the perfect antidote to cold, digital preamps. These amps should bring the best of both worlds: extreme sonic versatility and killer tone and dynamics.

I'm really intrigued by these amps. I'm just looking for good tube tone in a small, affordable package where I don't have crank it up and bother my neighbors (unless they deserve it  ). Even has a line out jack for recording.

I'm also very interested in this amp - can't wait till it hits the stores. I have a Vox AD30VT, and this could send it packing!

You and about a million other guitarists who value bang for the buck and demand great tube tone. As cool as the new Vibro Champ is, this Super Champ here is giggable! It'll work in small bars as a standalone and with the addition of a nice 2-12" cab or running the line out to your PA it'll handle anything you can throw at it.

I'm assuming the line out is post-12AX7 which will give you some tube over drive and warmth as long as the tube is not just being used as a phase inverter and is actually in the gain stage. Bill M...you wanna weigh in here?

I don't gig anymore and I need to keep it quiet which is why I'm leaning toward the lower wattage. I hope they are in stores on the 15th. Would love to give it a good run to make sure it's what I want.

AMS sez the 15th, but I've seen others referencing early Nov. I'd believe the latter.

Man, Class-A with modeling, EFX, a 6V6 and a line out for $249. A lot of folks are gonna be checking that out!

Shane or somebody: can you tell us if the line out on both new amps is post-12AX7 used as a preamp gain stage element and not just a phase inverter? And is there any speaker emulation on the line out? I would doubt there is, but a boy can dream can't he?

Bottom line on the SUPER CHAMP XD~~~
Is it out yet? Is it going to be soon?
It's now the end of October going into November '07
and no one has given any clue to a date.
I can't even find it on the FENDER pricing
lists on this site? (just to see what suggested price is)
Enough questions for today.

Still waiting for a definitive answer from Fender (hint hint) on two critical issues:

1) Is the 12AX7 merely a phase inverter or is it actually part of the preamp gain stage?

2) Does the line out have any speaker/cab sim making it viable for recording and PA augmentation right out of the box?
