I really like playing the old surf music, Ventures stuff, etc. What is the best modern Fender Amp out there to get that good old surf sound.

Thanks for any Input.

I would think you would want some reverb.

Depending on your budget and the level of power you want, I think either the 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue or the 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue would meet your expectations. Most guitar shops should have them and you can compare. You might find the Deluxe Reverb on your local craigslist.

A less expensive route would be looking into the Super or Vibro Champs. They have multiple amp voicing and effects - such as reverb. Check out the sound clips at the Fender website. You can emulate the tweed or blackface amps with some reverb - and surfs up. :D Again - most shops have both or one of these amps in stock.

WOW! Another surf player! Very pleased to meet you! Love the music, the sound, the mood, the drive.

I use my Cyber Twin SE for surf sound and lots of variations around the basic surf sound, like using delay. Have to say, it has the sounds , in my very humble opinion, better than anything else out there. It's a bit pricey when compared, but considering what it does, it's a bargain.

Ciao,
Johnny.

i would say use a hot rod amp. ....now hear me out....

the reverb is always deep enough to dive into, and if you would ever venture out to another genre, you have the ability bc of the on board overdrive circuits and its footswitchable. the cleans on the hot rod are not the same as the twin reverb... bc its not a twin reverb... but it is an extremely clean sounding amp, and with tons of reverb it will get you what you want, i promise.

i play praise and worship, contemporary chirstian music, rock, punk, ska, surf, blues, and my own stuff, and my one strat and one hot rod deville and one alvarez will cover all of it!

I play some surf music and it sounds just fine on my Hot Rod.

I have an original Cyber-Twin that I use for surf. I have a setting that Gary Hoey created and that I used for this surf song Overboard http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6818279.

I recorded all the tracks, and used my '66 Jazzmaster & '72 Strat.

Fender 63 Reverb unit http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0217500000
played through a fender 65 Twin Reverb, 59 Bassman, or Twin-amp.

It's my main gear lust item :/ can't justify putting out 800$+ for a reverb tank for only home playing.

And real heavy strings a-la Dick Dale's (monster 15's).
Wish him a speedy recovery http://www.dickdale.com/

Dick is doing fine, him & Jimmy were at the Winter NAMM back in Jan. I talk to him at least once a month.
