Thanks, I've known about that site for about 3 years. The amp is IMHO a total POS.
I have had my HRD Texas Edition for over a year giged it about 150 times never had a problem. Used to take a backup at first! Not any more! Also I have the matching cab, worth every penny! The amp has the vintage 30 and the cab has the celestion, perfect match IMO!!

That's the problem with them. Some are good many aren't. It's hit and miss and it shouldn't be with a PCB amp. When you have problems, they never stop.

If you really gig that much, you should bring a backup amp or minimum a spare set of tubes. I played professionally for many years and would never leave without a backup amp, spare tubes and fuses. My HRDlx died 3 times on stage, I'm glad I had my Twin with me. If it works for you and you like it, that's great. I didn't get 3 gigs out out mine let alone 150. My Twin has been going strong and trouble free since 1976. Just routine maintenance every 15 years or so.

I have an Egnater Rebel 20 head that I mostly play through an Eminence Red Fang 12", and I am encouraging anyone on the fence about a Rebel to pull the trigger. Mine is a slayer. Goes from 5-watt tweed Princeton growl to Deluxe Reverb clean with a twist of a knob, does the Vox-y chime and the Marshall grind.

Don't know how easy it would be to run in a gigging situation, but I'm a studio player, so it fits me like a tailored jacket.

Here's one major design difference between the HRDlx and Egnater Rebel 20 head. Both are PCB amps, but the tubes aren't hanging upside-down throwing heat on the PCB. That's a major selling point alone for that amp. Also notice that Fender doesn't mention what the cabinet is made out of? Accidentally get it wet like a friend of mine did and see what happens. The Egnater is Baltic Birch Plywood.

You can't blame these guy's for having bad luck with them. I have been on many forums and HR series amps are not well thought of. I have one and I like it but I had to do a couple things to get it to my liking. This forum is here for general discussion and Fender can collect information from this site just by monitoring what is said. These opinions may help in the long run. Any company should be concerned with improving quality. I believe Fender should look seriously at this situation and do something to address the quality of this amp and all others US or MIM. This feedback is necessary and justified. It tells a lot more than some of the loaded feedback questions companies ask.
