Hi Louis, Yeah I thought I heard you playing... Loud isn't it 8)
I use a Weber Mini Mass it works great! There are a lot of other brands, but I picked this one because of tone (as in no loss). Do a little research, this is only my opinion. Good Luck
Bill

I have a Blues Deluxe Reissue and I bought an Omnisomnic volume box for mine on ebay for about $25 shipped. The BDRI and the HRD are basically the same and the box will work for either one. It plugs into the effects loop. I could not hear any loss of tone on mine. It definitely makes it a loss easier to control the volume.

Here is a link for the seller I bought mine from. I know this one says it's for a Peavey, but you can e-mail and ask for one for the HRD.

My HR goes from ZERO to LOUD  But you need to have the amplifier up to get that lovely tone. I usually play mine in a large room rather than a bedroom so my ears will thank me later. Good luck with buying an attenatuator and Congrats on the new amp, the HR is one fine amplifier 8)

louis1, no they do not void the warranty. It's not a permanent mod, it's just like plugging in a pedal. The box plugs directly into the effects loop. I have mine sitting right on the top of the amp. I'll try to get some pictures up in the next day or so. That will give you a better idea what I am talking about.

cheers jim,

yeah just checked omnisonics out! they look nice, they priced nice!
struggling to find a demo of one tho.

the reviews are pretty much all 10/10 on them!

do you think say a boss blues driver would do the same thing, but have a more quality tone???? or would there still be volume issues??? because its like you say more of an effects pedal than a attenuator! so my thinking is just buy a quality distortion/overdrive/tubescreamer etc..... pedal and just use that.

so is there somesort of overdrive effect in the omnisonic??

thanks for your help

Hi louis1, what I meant was that it plugs in like a pedal. It is definely a volume attenuator and has no effect on the tone. It just makes it easier to tame the volume.

hi jim,

its defenatly not a attenuator if it plugs into effects loop, its basically a volume pot where there wasnt one before, too make the master less touchy. thats why a real power soaking attenuator will cost you big bucks and these dont! im not knocking them, i want one,

so what im trying to understand is how they work, and would a blues driver do the same thing???

cheers jim,

why dont you post a vid, lets hear it

if you plug a volume pedal into the loop you'll get the same effect and be able to control the volume with your foot. Volume pedals are cheap enough. Probably cheaper than that cheesy box if you pay shipping.

These boxes are nothing but a volume pot and 2 jacks. You can build one yourself for under 10 bucks. They are NOT attenuators, they are nothing more than volume controls. You will not get tube saturation like you will with an attenuator. There may be a volume box on Justin's site.

louis1 and 63supro

You're both right...it is just a volume pot. It's not a true attentuator. I apolgize for trying to help with my "cheesy box."

The volume box deal still works somewhat in that it will allow you to sizzle the preamp tubes, but you won't get that sexy power tube overdrive. Would give you better control of the master volume since it will use a regular volume pot that gradually increases instead of the linear pot that is in the amp now that goes from nothing to full crank immediately. I used one on my Peavey Classic 30.

As far as attenuators, I think the best values going are the Weber Mass or Mass Lite. Cheap as I've ever seen. Weber has some resistor based attenuators that are cheaper, but I've never used or seen one.

Jim don't take it personally. :D You did help, you just called it the wrong name. You don't need to apologize. Sorry I hurt your feelings, but I would hate to see young guys calling it what it isn't. A real attenuator will let you push the amp without going deaf. It is cheesy and overpriced to boot. Three really inexpensive parts are all you need.
