I purchased a Fender 212R for son's birthday last week from a young gal who had purchased it with the intent to learn to play but never did. The amp wasn't used but maybe an hour or so at home.

I did a basic check but apparently didn't check good enough. I gave it to my son and he told last night that the reverb didn't work. I went down and plugged in and sure enough there's no reverb. I checked the plugs in the back and they are in.
Any suggestions? I'd rather take care of it myself since I bought it used. Thanks for any advice.

Pull the reverb tank out and check it over.

One more question. I'm looking in the amp and I have the schematics in front of me. There are quite a few caps. Do just the 8 or 9 main caps need to be replaced or should they all be swapped out?

Thanks!
Mike

Usually the caps in the power supply are the first to get changed out. Tone stack caps to taste if necessary.

Here is a link to the schematic for this amp on the Fender Support page: http://www.fender.com/support/amp_schem ... ematic.pdf. The reverb part of the schematic is very simple so I doubt its anything but bad cables or a bad reverb pan. Get someone to check the cables for you or do it yourself if you have an ohm meter. also use the ohm meter to check for continuity at the input and output of the reverb pan. If all that checks out then a repair shop might be the next step. -Ron (in N.Va).
