Hey billco, I can relate to everything you're saying.

The best one is My HRDlx has that classic Fender sound. Most people who say that never played an older hand-wired Fender amp.

I regret selling my old stuff too. I sold my 72 Bandmaster to get my Twin. I wish I still had the Bandmaster giant 2x12 cabinet and all.

Agreed. I have a Blues Deluxe and it has nice clean tones, but when i play my 75 Super Reverb I can hear the classic Fender tones everyone is talking about.My BDX has what i would call more modern tones.
