Hi all.

I'm looking to getting a good and rugged solid state amp that won't kill my wallet. I think I've settled on the Fender Frontman 212. I have a concern about the volume though... Long story short, it seems like there is no volume at all below 1.5 and at 2 it's too loud for practice. Now, I know this is a powerful amp but I was hoping for something that I could use for practice in the basement and when I play out. Does this amp have a linear taper pot in the clean channel? It seems to get all its volume right away - unlike an audio taper pot. I know this was done in the Hot Rod series' lead channel (using a LT pot instead of an AT pot). Just curious because if I can't tame the volume down low, I need to keep looking for another amp - or at least one with less power.

Thanks!

I don't know about the Frontman but I recently sold my FM 212 DSP (pretty much the same amp with some effects added). I found that it was just a little bit too loud to be used in the bedroom. And while it was plently loud at band practice, I wasn't really thrilled with the tone at higher volumes.

For close to the same money, you might want to consider going onto Craigslist and looking for a used Blues Jr., or something along similar lines...
