Hey guys! First post! So, I am interested in the Super Sonic. But, I am not sure if it can handle metal. I am wondering, from anyone's experience with this amp, if it can get a high gain sound. I am NOT looking for a death metal, recto, rip-your-face-off distortion. Think Boogie Mark IV, EVH 5150 III, open mids kind of sound. Maybe kind of a Bogner-ish tone as well? Oh, and by the way, I LOVE the sound of the Bogner Ecstasy, especially with the 6L6's. So, enough talk. What do you guys think?

If you are looking to play lead metal guitar, yes it can. Using a MXR 6 or 10 band EQ to shape the gain to your taste would be icing on the cake. If you are looking for big bottom end for rythym metal guitar, buy a Marshall head & cabinet.

Yes, it will get a good high gain sound, but I wouldn't get the combo, get the head and the 4x12 cab, that will have the fatter sound you want.

I have a Supersonic combo and I plugged it into a friends 4x12 once and it sounded massive.

well since there are different styles in each genre, like sub genres, you'll have to go try one for yourself... depending on how 'metal' you want it... it can handle the not so modern metal alright.. but extreme earbleeding brand new modern day metal sound, nope.

either way.. the 412 is a must.
