I know that Input 1 and Input 2 on Fender Amps are intended as a "Use one or the other" approach, but then I saw in the Hot Rod Deville User's Manual that Fender acknowledges that both inputs CAN be used simulataneously.

Is this safe just for the Deville, or can other Fender Amps safely accomodate two guitars at once into the amp using Input 1 and Input 2? Any dangers at all?

Thanks!

I've never heard of a Fender Amp with multiple input jacks that couldn't handle multiple guitars. In The Soul Of Tone - Celebrating 60 years of Fender Amps there's a photo of a band all plugged in to the same Fender amp.

One note, when 2 jacks share the same volume and tone controls, don't be surprised if one jack is "louder" than the other. Fender designs some amps that way on purpose. The "softer" jack is for "hotter" guitars to provide more clean headroom. But either jack can work well with any guitar.

The second input is slightly lower. If the other guitar has Humbucker pups, plug that one in there. You will not hurt the amp at all. When I was really young, We had a Vibrolux Reverb I was in input 1, a mic in input of the first channel and another guitar in the second channel.

Have fun!
