Why doesn't the BJR just have a volume control? This Master/Volume, up&down, back'n'forth. How do you make it work like an amp with just a Volume Knob like back in the day. I've found lots of good settings. I'm wondering if there is a standard setting (forget the Fat Switch). I'm used to my other amps with just a volume control. I play mostly Clean; Relic Rock 50's, 60's. I think it's clean anyway. We didn't name sounds back then. I like this amp, I'm just looking for that sweet spot. Any ideas, guitar slingers? <3 dual shellman

I don't know about this back'n forth or up&down of which you speak.

But if you wanted an amp with no master volume, you shoulda bought one.

In the meantime, try this:

Crank the Gain (or volume or whatever it's called) all the way down, run the Master Volume all the way up. Now, turn up the Gain just until the amp is about as loud as you'd like it. Set this way, you'll be using minimum preamp tube gain and maximum power tube gain, which should get you in the ballpark.

This may or may not be the "sweet spot."

Read the manual! The Volume control adjusts the amount of preamp gain- distortion. Low settings give you a cleaner sound, higher settings give you more distortion. The Master control adjusts overall volume of the amp. So adjust the Volume control for the amount of distortion you'd like, then turn the Master control to get the overall volume you'd like.

BTW, the cleanest sound is to turn the Master control up full, then turn the Volume control up until right before it starts distorting. Ok?

Hello Dual Shellman,

Did you buy this from an online store?
Frankly, I think this is one of the amps
best feature. Possibly you can return it
and-- get something like a "Pro Junior".
Same wattage, but fewer knobs to turn.

Cheers.
