Hi all

I need advice on what amp to buy next. I have a Roland Cube 15. I now want something in the 30-70 watt range. I have heard good things about the Fender 25R but bad things about their 65 watt model. (Not sure of the exact name.) I don't want to buy something that I will outgrow too soon but also don't want to lug around a heavy tube amp.

I plan on gigging in school auditoriums and small clubs.

thanks for your input.

I don't know what kinda budget your on, but the Hot Rod series amps just can't be beat for the price, plus their tube. These are very versatile amps and can be used for just about any type of music. I have the DeVille 410 and play everything from blues to jazz to country. I've been able to get just about every sound I can think of out of this thing. It is heavy though, weighs in at around 50 pounds. I always dread having to move the darn thing, but it's worth it to me.

I think the Hot Rod Deluxe (40W 1x12) is right up your alley. It can get very loud and doesn't weigh quite as much as the others. You should go try one out.

What kinda music are ya playing?

You might get by with the small, light Blues Junior. It stands up to blues band volumes in bars just fine. If money is no object, the Deluxe Reverb Reissue is relatively light and sounds superb. Or the Blues Deluxe Reissue for more punch.
