Fender is only making the blues junior tweed edition for a limited time. I was wondering if any one knew how long they will be making them. I need to know this because if they are not around long I will have to purchase soon.

You should probably check out the Pro Jr instead. Much better amp. If you're just looking to collect, then grab the tweed Blues while you can. You can probably find a "Woody Pro Jr." like the one in my Avatar. The last I checked Musician's Friend still had some. I picked one up when they were the "stupid deal of the day" for what it would cost for the regular black tolex one. Great amp all around though. My black one travels while the woody stays at home.

Hello Jyoung138,

I got my NOS laquered tweed at GC about
a Year and a half ago and it wears the
wee plate proclaiming it's Limited Edition.
There still making them, I suppose sales
might be a limiting factor.

Having stated that, let me add that for me it's
a really good sounding amplifier.

Best of luck on your choice.

Cheers.

I bought mine in 2003. I don't know if they stopped making them and then started again or if they made them continuously. Great amp though.

I just bought a NOS lacquered tweed. With the Jensen speaker it is a completely different animal than the reg Jr. I am a big fan but then I was looking for a straight forward tube amp. People seem to get down on Jr's for various reasons, I always wonder if they own one, I am very impressed with the tone. Lot of attitude, master at 3, volume at 10, lot of volume control, dial down for room/practice or up and wake the neighbours.

I have one with the plate Bill mentioned:

Oddly at the store when I asked for a NOS they had no idea what I was talking about. The tag simply stated "Laquered Tweed Edition" or something like that.

I'm suspicious that there's a difference between "Laquered Tweed Edition" and today's "NOS". For one mine has a different Jensen than advertised in the NOS. I guess there are lots of different runs.

Hello Toronado,

Interesting, mine is far more amber in color than yours
and the one at my local GC. I wonder if the lacquer has
darkened on mine or if it was always thay way.

Cheers.

Bill the color varies form one to the next. When I bought my NOS we took four of them out and I inspected and played them all and they were four different shades. I think it has to do with the tint and amount of lacquer on each amplifier.

My Lacquered Tweed from '03 is more dark in color, and doesn't have any special edition badges on the back. Just the chrome one on the back left that says Blues Junior.

Just got mine today! Actually, I traded in my Hot Rod Deville 212 (which I loved but was JUST TOO FREAKIN' LOUD) for it...

I'm more of a rhythm player, and I always felt like I wasn't living up to the potential of the Deville (like having a Ferrari and not getting past 2nd gear). The Blues Jr. seems more geared toward someone like me who is at best gonna gig a small club or backyard party.

I've been playing through it for several hours now; I love the fat switch and the how simple the amp is to use!

Did you have to pay any price difference?

Congrats on the new amp!

Got about $4oo for the trade-in, so I only paid around $129 for the Blues Jr...

Yeah, the Deville is LOUD; I never really turned it past 3 (which didn't even let it breathe!). Like I said, it's a great amp, but I don't see my band packing any stadiums in the near future (our first gig was this past Saturday). I'm happy I made the trade...

By the way, the Deville is a heavy mother! The Blues Jr. is much easier on my back! :)
