I was playing a 65DRRI at GC and I noticed that the amp would break up with any guitar with hb at very low volume 1-2. This was only with hb's because all the Teles and Strats didn't do this and they sounded great. The reason why I'm asking is because I have a 65 DRRI but it has a Celstion Greenback in it. I bought it that way form a friend. When I play my SG Standard or any of my Strats w/hb's the amp does not break up until closer to 4 or 5 volume. I guess the two amps could be biased different or my tubes could be broken in but I was just woundering if the speaker makes a differnce?

Yes it does, speakers play a big role in your tone. The greenback is supposed to be more smooth than regular speakers. And you would notice it even more with an Alnico Blue.
