Has anyone every tried to remove the tolex from one of these amps? I had this crazy idea to maybe get one of these used and tear off the tolex and make it a natural wood kind of amp. Probably would require lots of sanding to remove whatever glue or adhesive is under there.

I'd probably also go with the brown grill cloth like on my Tweed NOS, and even find one of the leather handles. Also would definately find a vintage style speaker to replace the stock one.

Any ideas what kind of job this might be??

Yep all particle board. I was going to say the same thing. Last time I said something like that I got called all kinds of nasty names. :D :?
If you're handy, you could build a custom cabinet.

A custom cabinet can be nice. Here is my Blues Jr. in a Custom Made Walnut 2x12 Cabinet with 2 Scumback Speakers from www.southbayampworks.com

Although I must warn you that have a Custom Cabinet made and going with quality speakers can be quite expensive. My Cabinet and Speakers cost way more than the original amp did.

Hmmmm particle board.....never would've guessed it :) It seems to me that Fender did a special run a few years back on a BJ in white blonde, and I think they may have had a matching 50's Tele along with it. After taking out a second mortgage on the house, a guy might be able to actually have a true BJ with a wood finish :)

Beautiful indeed. But I can't help but think of a Pinto engine in a Bentley body!

Volkswagen Engine in a Porsche is more like it.

It sounds a good as it looks!!

Yes, but now instead of a throwabout amp, you have an heirloom that can be passed down, or something you would never think of selling. I wish the Blues Jr came in a 2x12, with a little more wattage.

Beautiful amp, Chet.

Nice work on the walnut cab. I have a Blues Junior in a tobacco burst finish. I'm not sure of the wood but I believe it is ash. It has a limited edition plaque on the back and the only one I've seen. It's makes a very comfortable footstool. If you can't sell it-sit on it.
