Has anyone changed the speaker is the Blues Junior? I find the stock speaker too harsh and the NOS junior has a nice tone, just not the tone that I am after. What speakers have people replaced the stock speakers with in the Junior? Also what other specific modifications have people done to enhance the tone and sound quality of the Junior?

The third speaker that Fender has put in the Blues Jr. is the Celestion Vintage 30. The limited edition model is called a Texas Red. I put the Warehouse Guitar Speakers version of that speaker (Veteran 30) in mine for half the cost of the Celestion. The speaker is well spoken of and there are demos on YouTube. I have tried the other two fender installed speakers in stores but not enough to make an objective comparison to the V30. Either V30 is loud at 100 db and good for blues or classic rock. Unless you know what specific tone or type of music you want to play it might be worth a try. Someday I might try the WSG version of a Greenback. Other folks recommend Weber speakers for Blues Jrs. but I forget which specific ones.

I have seen a couple of YouTube videos on the Texas red Blues Junior but they are not available where I am from so I was considering modifying a Blues Junior. I had a listen to some YouTube videos and it actually sounds like the Veteran30 has a nicer tone than the Vintage30, and for a fraction of the price it may be the best option. I will mainly be playing blues and occasionally rock.

I have modified my BJr. I did the BillM mods. It sounds much better. You can do the mods yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron, or you can send your amp chassis to Bill and he can do the mods.

May i ask which country you live in? Would it be a massive assumption to think you're in the UK?

I did all the mods except the clean boost mod. I plan to do the clean boost as sson as I can. The mods helped the amp sound bigger - less boxy. The adjustable bias allowed me to set the bias so I didn't roast any more power tubes.

Well not quite, I live in Australia and I sent an email to Fender Australia who stated that they would not be distributing any 'Texas Red' Blues Juniors, but at some stage they would consider bringing a custom Junior with a Celestion Vintage30 out in the future. I can't wait around for ever.....
