I just picked up a used cyber deluxe (pretty cheap) and over all not a bad amp, alot of bells and whistles, but there is an annoyng hiss, especially on the modern tones and the dyna touch tones. If you turn the volume past 5 it is a loud hiss. I wanted to play with those tones as well, to experiment around, but the hiss can be so annoying almost makes these tones unusable. I am a noob on guitar so any help would be appreciated. I am not sure if i should take in for repair or this just manufacture defect and i should sell it
I have had the amp for about 4 days, but I dont like the hiss. I had used a crate profiler and it didnt have all the hiss this one does

It's hard to say from this end if it's a real problem, or just, well...hiss. Because the amp is used, I'd start by restoring factory presets and throwing in a new set of tubes. The deluxe has tubes, right? I think it does- two of them. The reason I suggest restoring factory presets is because this amp is user programable. Who knows what's been tweaked how, or how good the person tweaking was. They could have the compressor on full, or a noisey high gain tone stack in line. Best to start from scratch and do your own tweaking. The manual covers how to restore factory presets. It looks very simple. I only notice a lot of hiss on high gain presets, and the noise gate takes care of that for the most part. But a bunch of things could contribute to lots of hiss. There's a lot of configuration possibilities in the amp. Take some quality time with the manual and the amp. Get into the editing side of each presets amp and go through all the choices of everything. There's a lot to experience. Even setting up the gain staging of the amp- from the trim setting, to gain, volume, and master needs to be set up optimally. But is your hiss not normal? Hard to say without being at the amp. Good luck.

Dan

Hey, turn on the noise gate. it should be labeled N. Gate. its right below the tiny display screen. that should fix your problem. =]
