Is it a bad idea to leave a tube amp uncovered all the time while its at home, other than it getting dusty - will the dust mess with the exposed tubes or anything else I am not thinking of? Thanks

I always bought a cover to protect the Tolex or Tweed from getting scraped up while moving the amp or speakers in and out of a vehicle as well as to give some protection from everything else I tried to cram in the trunk or back seat with it. Unless you are in a particularly dusty area, I don't think covering at home should be a concern.

I have a cover, only to protect it from things such as rain and snow, when I'm transporting it to play with people.

I never cover any amps unless I'm heading out on the road. Then I have road cases for them. You'll hear people talking up the dust on the tubes or some even say don't touch your tubes too often because the oil of your skin will cause them to heat up. All of that is a load of hooey. Cover it, don't cover it.

Perhaps playing it loud enough will cure it of that

Hello Toronado & Hotrod,

True story, I really would like to
crank it up more often, but the
neighbors would threaten lynching.

Just kidding they're a nice bunch.

Cheers.
