Hi guys,
new member here!
I've been wanting the twin reverb for a while now, but I have a question you possibly can answer! Now, my favourite guitarist(Johnny Thunders) used nothing else than a twin reverb and a Gibson LP Junior. No pedals at all. So can the twin reverb give that slightly distorted sound he has? Because I know it is a very very clean amp. Or do I have to mod it, and how?
Thanks alot

By the time that amp breaks up your ears will be bleeding. They do take pedals well. 8) Mike

haha I know they take pedals! But I don't own a single one, and I'm not planning to. But I've heard something about removing some valves? Anything you would know about?

Do some research on the Deluxe Reverb. I love mine. It remains clean at moderate volumes and breaks up real nice when pushed. Plus it's lighter in weight than the Twin, making it more portable.

DRRI sounds like it'd be perfect for you. It's amazing, and you won't be disappointed!

Well... I like being one of the few with a beautifully made great sounding amp, so maybe you should consider something else...

+1 On the DRRI. I have a Twin and can't get it to break up before your ears start to hurt. It was made to be clean and it just sparkles. I like the EH English Muffin for distortion.

Got to go with everybody else here. I have a TRRI and trust me, if you want any sort of overdriven sound without putting pedals in front of it you don't want the Twin Reverb. To get it to break up you literally will have to get it so dang loud that you won't be able to play with others in a band and are at some serious hearing damage risk. I have heard about the pulling tubes (valves) trick, but haven't done it myself - the TRRI does take pedals amazingly well though if you ever want to consider going that way.

You can pull a pair of power tubes, but it's still really loud. I'd go with the DRRI, my twin is a SF 100 watt master volume. If I turn the volube up to 8 and put the master volume on 2 it's still pretty clean. I tried pulling 2 power tubes and it sounded like crap.

The DRRI has really nice breakup. The Twin is designed to be clean, loud and it weighs a ton.
