Simple question that any techie should be able to answer without much thought but I don't have a clue to .....

I lost the footswitch for my Bassman 400 and need a new one. The Fender site shows a single button switch for the Bassman 400 and 800. They also show single button switches for many other Fender amps. I've been looking around on Ebay for a used one. They have several single button switches for sale but none that are specifically for the Bassman. There are lots of them for a host of other Fender amps. Here's my question. Will any single button Fender footswitch do the job? I don't care if it says Bassman, chorus or what ever on it. I just want one that works.

Having never opened one up, because I don't have one yet, I would think that there is some difference or they would not make model specific part numbers. Maybe there is a resistor or a diode rated for the particular circuit of amp in each footswitch. What I do know is that from an inventory/cost control standpoint if a part number works on more than one unit they will list it as such and not create different part numbers for different amps.
