I am upgrading the tubes and speakers in my champion 600 and had some questions after opening the back of the amp. I am not that savvy when it comes to messing with amps, I did replace the tubes in one other amp.

1. It looks like the preamp tube shield is held on by 1 screw, and the power amp tube is held by two screws in a clamp. I wanted to double check that you do need to remove these screws in order to replace the tubes (the screws seem to be very hard to remove).

2. In order to reach the "front-side" screw for the power tube, and the top screw of the speaker it seems like the best approach would be to remove the front panel via the 4 front screws.

Any guidance or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Looks like you do not need to remove the screws to remove the tubes from fender support. The pre-amp shield is a push up a twist to remove and the power amp you just push the clips out.

Anyway in case anyone else needs this info there you go!

I can reach the preamp tube through the opening in the rear panel, but changing the power tube is quite impossible because of the cage around the tube. I unscrewed 4 srews in the back, but the back panel won't still come off. How is the power tube meant to be changed if there's this funny cage around it and back panel is so tight that it wil break apart if I try to rip it off?

My old Bassman is really easy in this matter...

Actually, I finally managed to get the rear panel out. It just needed some serious violence...
