The following quote was made in a comment on this forum about the Super Champ XD: "You can also wire things up so that you have both the cab and the internal speaker running."

My question is this: How do you do this and still acheive an 8ohm load? If anyone knows how to do this it would be much appreciated... please let me know as I want to run the stock speaker as well as a 2x10 cab at the same time. Does anyone know how to do this with 3 speakers while still acheieving an 8ohm load.... or would I have to build a 3 speaker cab? Maybe 3 8inch speakers? If anyone has any thoughts or ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

In regard to my topic above... I meant I would like to run the internal speaker at the same time as a 2x10 cabinet and if this is not possible at 8ohms then maybe I could run the internal speaker as well as 3 8inch speakers all at 8 ohms wired in series / parallel using a Y adaptor at the speaker output to acheive 8ohms?

Please let me know if you guys know how to acheive 8 ohms with the internal speaker running at the same time as a 2x10 cab or if you have any ideas about this...

Thanks

I am interested as well. I have an XD running the 8 ohm speaker and a superchamp extension cab that has an 8 ohm speaker.

So what type of extension speaker do you have for this amp?

You said that you have a superchamp extension cab? Where did you buy that or did you build it?

Guys, I would suggest the Weber Z-Matcher 50 unit. You'll have the internal speaker, a wide option of external cabs, and an adjustable Balanced/Unbalanced line out for PA or slave amp. www.tedweber.com ART

To maintain an 8 ohm load, your external speaker would have to be wired in parallel with the internal speaker.

For series wiring....add the two together. So... (2) 8 ohm speakers in series would equal 16 ohms.

For parallel....devide the totals of the 2 speakers. SO, if you had (2) 8 ohm speakers, your total would be 4 ohms.

According the Fender, the amp wasn't made for extension cabinets. I was given a 4x12 fender extension cabinet and I can't use it....

Hey Detroit, If that 4X12 cab has an 8ohm input, you could pull the internal speaker's cable and plug in the big cab(using speaker cable). Of course this scenario disables the internal speaker. When removing the 4X12's cable from the amp, install the internal speaker's cable right away. This is a good habit to get into, to prevent the amp being played without a speaker load. ART
