I would recommend not wasting your money on any Fender re-issue. Especially the hot rod series. If you have a thousand, save a little more and look into all hand wired assembled tube amps. Here is two great builders that have excellent client service;

-SDG Vintage
-Parker

Just Google them and you will find them.

Good luck & enjoy
Actually the Fender Reissue amps are really good and they are really reliable.I have a Bassman RI from the 90s and it is built like a tank.The Hotrod series is a mixed bag, but its not really a reissue amp.Sure you could spend 3k and get a boutique amp with ptp that sounds awesome, but for the money it should.

The Hot Rod series have more than their fair share of design and quality issues compared to the reissues. Given the price increase, you could do a lot better than the Hot Rod Series.

Not all boutique amps are 3 grand. You can actually get an Ampeg J20 that's PTP for around $800. Not boutique but PTP. Just remember 40 watts is not twice as loud as 20 watts. I've been blown off the stage by a DRRI and an Ampeg J20 on 2 different occasions. Those amps just cut better. My HRdlx just got lost.

I don't think you said where you plan on using this new amp but that is a major consideration.

The twin reverb is about as clean as you can get but it is 85 watts and it gets loud. I use mine in the basement of my house with lots of sound absorbing junk so it works out ok. If I play out, it is out on my deck and I send the neighbors packing (it could be my playing but I think it is the volume).

The twin has reverb and vibrato but you can get a pedal if you want something else tonewise.

The one you saw for $600 might be in bad shape for that price.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
