Hey people.

Please help me out here. I'm using a 2004 Fender Blues Junior LTD. Basically, when I turn both the volume and master volume up to around 6/7/8 I get feedback. But it's not the normal kind. It sounds like it, (high pitched ringing sound) but I've muted my guitar, the problem's still there. When I tap the amp it kind of responds by suddenly getting louder for literally as quick as I tap it.

Any ideas?!?!? Could it be the tubes or something else, internal? I've plugged it into loads of different sockets, isolated it from any other electricals and all that but it still does it.

The weird thing is when I run my pedals through it and increase the overall volume by raising my pedals, it doesn't happen.

PLEASE HELP before I throw it out the window.

Ed

Sounds like a possible microphonic tube to me.

Change out the tubes and see if that cures the problem. If it doesn't I would take it in and have it checked out by an amp tech.

Hey Chet

Yes what an idiot I forgot about that. I checked it, it's a microphonic tube! little bugger! Gave it a tap with a rubber and PING.

Thanks!

Ed

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. Sometimes the answer is right there in front of us, but we don't see it.
Personally I would go ahead and change out all the tubes just to be on the cautious side.
