I'm looking for a footswitch that will work on my mid-80's vintage Montreux...it's got the 5-pin connector in back. anybody know if the current 3 switch models will work?

hi...it's me...I'm back...

here's the update on this footswitch deal: the Montreux has a 5 pin female connector for the footswitch but it isn't the usual DIN layout, it looks like the 5 dots on a die. fortunately, the pin positions on the connector are numbered so you can match them with the DIN plug from a suitable 3 switch footswitch, as long as you have an adaptor. I'm told by a Guitar Center employee that the Marshall PED803 footswitch will work in place of the original switch (which is of course NLA), but I am unable to find an adaptor...so, after a trip to Radio Shack to buy a female DIN connector and a male DIN plug, I have dismantled the plug to get the pins out of it and will now attempt to create my own adaptor. I suppose I could just replace the connector on the amp with the new DIN style one so the PED803 can plug directly in, but if it doesn't work then I've modified the amp for no reason. I'lm gonna solder wires into the DIN pins, plug 'em into the Montreux's connector sockets, attach the other ends to the appropriate leads on the female DIN connector and plug the PED803 into this miniature Frankenstein and see if it works. why all this diddling around for a mid-80's solid state amp? because the front panel switches are about shot and I really like the way it sounds! check out this link for more info on the Montreux and its siblings: http://www.superchamp.dk/papers/fender_ ... t_80er.pdf

I'm looking for the same footswitch for an 83 SS Showman...
I found this from Evergreed in Romania on the FDP site...

I did the experiments and I've found the ground terminal directly on the 5-pin socket, without opening the amp. I know now the combination between the pins to obtain the desired effect.
Specially for the London Reverb & Showman II owners and for those who wants to know how it works, the holes from the mother socket are numbered and the pin #1 is the ground.
If you do the following connections between the pins you'll obtain:
1 + 2 = Channel select;
1 + 3 = Effects on / off;
1 + 4 = Reverb on / off;
1 + 5 = EQ on / off.

Unfortunately, nobody couldn't tell me the connector type, so I have to replace it. The midi DIN socket is a great solution and also it fits on the main and screw holes, but the only Fender 4-button footswitch available with midi cable is the one from the Cyber Series Amps. I don't like it because is without any LED's, which can create difficulties on a live performance. So I think I'll buy the TB1 type, which is a little bit cheaper and I'll replace the 2 stereo 1/4" jacks with a DIN midi connector.

That's my solution... Can anyone give me better suggestions?
Thanks!

hi folks - I know this thread's 2 years old, but it still turns up on Google, so if anyone's still looking for the correct footswitch connector, I found it today - it's Switchcraft SL405MX. That's the male on the end of the cable. Big thanks to Jim W of the FDP for that.
