I bought it new about 3-4 years ago and used it for about 2 for playing and practicing live. I've lived overseas for a few months and come home to the amp in my brother's room, he's a moron so I have no idea what he did with it.

When I play now, it will seem to play fine then occasionally I'm getting these crackling and popping and squealing noises at random. I've also noticed the amp distorts at lower volumes, I never had this problem before.

Does this sound like a tube issue?

I haven't changed the tubes since I bought the amp.

Most people will tell you that two years of steady playing is about the maximum time that power tubes will last without replacement. This is a ballpark figure, of course, but it's a pretty decent rule. The first thing I'd do is change out your tubes, one at a time, and see what comes of it. It may also help to spray a tiny bit of electrical contact cleaner on the tube pins, and then work them in and out of their sockets a few times; this could be the cheapest fix.

The other potential problem is the accumulation of filth in your amp. If it's been sitting for months, it may be filled with dust and other household grime. Giving it a good cleaning would probably be worth your while.

These are pretty easy fixes, and could very well restore your amp to its pristine new condition.

I'm going with that ceramic wire wound 330 ohm resistors on this one. Sound like they need reflowing. The tubes should last a LONG time if you left the bias stock from the factory.
