So, I have a Boss RC-2 Loop Station on the way. I am still very much a beginner and thought it would help me practice. I want to learn play some basic chord progressions than loop them and play lead over. I think it will really help learn lead.

I was really hoping to lay down some overdriven riffs first then play clean overtop.

Because all the amp voices and effects are built in. I don't have any pedals.

How can I loop different sounds (overdrive, chorus, reverb...) than play another different sound overtop, or just continue looping.

If I connect the RC-2 to the line-out, will it record with all the effects and voices? Then after I record a phrase, and move it to the in, I can play clean over that right?

Is anybody out there using an RC-2 with the Super Champ?

Thanks in advance.

Well been playing with it and this is what I've come up with.

No. It won't work with the line-out. At least not without a dumby connection to the output so the pedal will turn on. But I don't have enough cables to figure it out.

So I guess I'm stuck looping on one channel. It does work great though. Cool little toy.

I don't know if I'll keep it. It seems really limited for my application. Unless I go out and buy a bunch of fx pedals. But that's why I got the Super Champ, so I wouldn't need a bunch of pedals.

Hope this helps anybody that was thinking of getting the RC-2 for SCXD.

What I did and what I suggest is buying a multi-effects processor and put that in front of the looper, like this:

Guitar --> Processor --> RC-2 --> SCXD

It doesn't have to be anything fancy if you just want a few different tones. Check out the DigiTech RP models - they have some in the $50 to $100 range and they will give you you plenty of different tones for looping.
