I have an Untimate Chorus amp from 1994 (no DSP) and the other day I plugged in and the amp POPPED. I switched from clean to drive to clean and it popped more. Touched the cable...it popped. Changed cables and guitar...same thing. Switched to second input and it sounds ok (except the 2nd input is not as loud as the 1st).
Tried to google it and all I could find was it could be the capacitors need replacing.
Any suggestions?

Chances are that you need to replace the input jack...or resolder the solder joints under the jack...if you're handy with a soldering iron and a few handtools it's not that hard of a job. The jacks can be had for pretty cheap through Antique Electronic Supply (www.tubesandmore.com) out of the Phoenix, AZ area. If you're outside the USA, google for Fender jacks and you'll find them. You'll need to order the "stereo" jacks. AES's P/N is S-H507
