Hi this is my first post here. I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this because I'm worried its doing some kind of permanent damage to my amp. I've swapped tubes around and tried numerous other things but theres still some underlying fuzz on the clean and overdrive channel (not that worried about this :D). It eventually goes away after 30 minutes as the amp warms up, but even so, it's quite annoying to have to wait that long.
Hope someone has in idea of what causes this,
Lee

I could be a lot of things. Did you put new tubes in ore just swap them with each other? If you replaced the power tubes, have the bias checked.

First thing that comes to my mind is cold or bad solder joints on the tube sockets. When the amp gets to operating temp., the joints heat up and make solid contact again. That's just a guess going from all the things that happened to my HRDlx. I would take it to a tech and have it checked out.

You can check the solder joints yourself. Unplug the amp and put one hand in your pocket. Take off the back and locate where the tube sockets are located on the PCB. Wiggle each tube and watch the solder joints very carefully. If they lift when or look cracked when you wiggle them, take it to a tech and have them all re-soldered. Also look for any burnt or scorched parts. Especially the 5 watt cement resistors.

Bad filter caps can create distortion, so can incorrect bias settings, but it usually won't go away.

Good Luck

Use a little contact cleaner on the sockets too and the jacks. Rule out the simple stuff first.
