Hey everyone, This is my first post but I've been reading for a while.
Anyway, I've got a question that hopefully someone here can answer.
Has anyone tried the BBE Sonic Stomp with a Blues Junior? This pedal is getting great reviews, but some say it does not benefit some amps and setups. I play a stock HWY 1 Tele through a Blonde Blues Junior and I really want to try, but if it is $100 that I would be wasting, I'd like to know on the front end. Thanks in advance.

Hi there - I don't own the BBE Sonic Stomp and have never tried it, but have owned a Blues Jr since they first came out and went through many-many effect pedals. There are indeeds some amps that don't take some pedals well, like vintage amps like a Deluxe Reverb, but that's because it lacks a control for the MID. With the Blues Junior, if you can "train your ears" to lower the Middle control in the 0-4 range, it should take just about any overdrive or booster pedals well. I find that the Mid control on the BJ tends to add too much highs to overdrive/booster pedal. You would only raise the Mid control if you feel you are not cutting through the mix in a live situation - otherwise, leave it on zero.

Of course, if you intend to turn your BJ into a Marshall stack by buying a pedal, that will not work.

The best thing, as always, is to try before you buy.

I've used the 482 BBE Sonic maximizer with the BJ and other amps and it sounds great. YMMV ?

Big thumbs up on the BBE Sonic Maximizer and the Blues Junior. I have both and use this BBE pedal with the BJr all the time. When you first plug it in, you really don't hear much change. But after playing a while, if you click the pedal off, you won't believe it. It is often said that this pedal is like taking a blanket off from in front of your amp, and it is so true. It really cleans everything up, focuses the bass and makes the highs sparkle. It works great for me with the BJr. Good luck!

While I don't have a Blues Jr., I do have a CyberTwin. I use my BBE pedal all the time and it sounds fantastic. I also use it with my little Peavey Classic 20, a 15W monster of a tube amp and it sounds great! I think everyone should have a BBE maximizer.
