Post subject: burning smell??

i have a blues jr and it was time to change my tubes so i changed all the tubes but the EL84s had a burning smell to it, i got the gt EL84s its the first time i change the EL84s i changed the 12AX7 tubes before but everything was normal. does anyone kno if that smell should be der lol idk... any help.. thanks

It could just be oil and dirt from being handled when you installed the tubes. Did the smell go away after awhile?

i did smell it rite away like once they started warming up i smelled it. i used it today and it was the same smell but not as strong i tried to smell around the back and its only coming from the tubes not from inside or anywhere else it seems weird to me idk if dats normal

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like it was just from getting a little oily and dirty installing them. Might be a good idea to wash your hands well before you change them again. It minimizes the contaminates on the surface of the tube.

Just be sure the tubes aren't red plating. Be sure they're not glowing real red.

I was thinking dat it could probably be from the sticker dats on the tube causing the smell. the tubes glow der regular color der never red.. I kno the smell of tubes lol and I got worried once I smelled a burning smell. the amp works fine so im guessing its nothing serious
