Alright, i have this fender "bullet 150" amp, i got in one of those stop dreaming start playing, boxed sets.

Well, the amp tends to cut out rather often.
and its one of those problems where you just wiggle the cord. it will like "click back on" for a bit,

anyways. i think the input jack is loose or something,

I've tried tightening the... (pardon my terminology) little metal ring around the jack, the hex thing, and still no success. it just ends up tightening it into a position where its "clicked off"

so i have the back off the amp, (which is quite a hassle to get off) and i'm trying to figure out what i should do here.

This is not my only amp, i just kinda want to fix this one up, as a little practice amp, and i don't want to bring it to a shop.

So, anybody know how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Stewart macdonald makes a tool to hold the jack in place while you tighten it.

or you have to remove the chasis and grip the jack while tightening to keep it from rotating.

Alright, so what your saying is i pretty much just have to hold the actual jack, from the inside of the amp, (in position where it works?) and then just tighten the... hex shaped thing.

This is a very common problem on Fender amps. I have repaired a number with this fault. Best is to replace the jack with something that can be wired to the board and not soldered directly to it. But, if you must use what is there try removing the board assembly and find the solder joints for the input jack. Now resolder them into place. Be sure to look and see if the PC board tracks have ben broken. It likes to break right where it is soldered to the jack pins. If it is a piece of wire can be soldered from the point of origin at the jack pin to the next point on the board. This gives you a bypass over the damaged board. I have repired many this way with great results. From here on out be careful when plugging into the amp and it might just last a long time. But, Fender warrantees its amps for 5 years. Look into that. They are very good at standing behind their products.
