Hey, I was thinking of buying either a Fender Blues Junior or a Hot Rod Deluxe. I play blues, and I am not currently in a a band, but I will be in less than a year. I was wondering which amp would be better for my situation. I know that the Hot Rod Deluxe is more of a pain lugging around, but I do not mind that, since I am getting 40W of Tube Power .I have a Fender deluxe player strat 3 tone sunburst with a Rosewood Fretboard. Thanks!

A Blues Jr. NOS would be my recommendation....IMHO it is a much better sounding amp than the HRDLX....tone to DIE for! Make sure it's the NOS version - huge difference in blues tone.

I have both amps and the HRDLX is vastly superior in tone in my opinion. I love a super clean sound and while the Blues Jr is nothing to sneeze at the HRDLX just blows me away with the tone...

The only thing I cannot comment on is the reliability of the HRDLX as I have not had it long enough yet...

Try them out and decide what you like...!

I had the same problem, i chose the Blues Junior because i didn't need the 40W and the HR deluxe was way too heavy to lift for me. But go for the tone that you prefer, it's the best way to go. I much prefered the Hot Rod Deluxe tone, but went for the Blues Junior, and i kinda regret it.

The Hot Rod Deluxe have a much beefier and fat sound, wich i love, the Blues Junior is more thin and twangy. I play alternative rock and blues, but when it comes to distortion, my Blues Junior doesn't really do a awsome job, it's good but not enough.

Try them both, and go for the tone you prefer!

Goodluck

Yep, it's whatever you like best. I had a HRDLX, and I did not find it to my liking. Too harsh and brittle. Got rid of that and got a Peavey Delta Blues 115, A great amp, but just not able to capture that magic Fender sound. My NOS Blues Jr. is wonderful! And, as I said in my earlier post, there's a HUGE difference between a standard Blues Jr and the tweed NOS version. Check out the comparison video on youtube that has been referred to so many times in these forums.

Or buy a stock one and change the speaker yourself and save some money.

That blues junior is really good, however if you need a louder amp it might not be what you want but it certainly sounds really cool specially with the upgraded speaker... :)
