Now that was priceless.

I don't mind buying an amp from a music store that's in a cardboard box. But I agree. I bought a new Cyber Twin SE last year online. It came in a cardboard box. A $1300 amp (this year it's $1700) comes in the same type of packaging if I bought a $13 book from a different online store.

Maybe they ought to sell amps in airline cases like they do guitars. I would be willing to pay $100-200 more for an amp if it came like this. (I wrote this before I saw Vulkan's suggestion as well)

Fender....are you listening?

I hate to burst your bubble but some guitars are shipped in gig bags inside a flimsy cardboard box. I had one shipped that way and it had a ding where the box had been punctured.

+1 Some guitars that are over $1000 don't even ship with a case or gig bag! ESP is notorious for doing that, but at least they double box. I still think you should get another one or fight with the courier and claim insurance on it.

I suppose that is a good way to drive consumers to dealers and away from mail order. It isn't right to get damaged goods as "new" but ugh Murphy's Law...

My Yamaha semi-hollow didn't come with a case or gig bag either, and like those ESPs, it was just over $1k.

Fortunately, it was in perfect condition, and is a great guitar, so I didn't mind one whit. ;)

It is kind of amazing that something you spent a lot of money on came like that. My Twin Reverb came in cardboard with some packing material and it was wrapped in plastic.

The UPS delivery guys took it off the truck and put it douwn on the driveway. One of them looked at me when I came out on the steps and said "it's car parts, right?".

I just looked at them and said no it's an amplifier, could you bring it over here please (it weighs 64 lbs)...They saw the Fender name on the box and thought it must be car parts...I'm still laughing. :D
