Okay here is the deal, Im trying to find an amp that is great for blues, rock, some r`n`b and the odd bit off metal.
I will list some artists and songs to give you a rough idea of what i am trying to aim for.

Jimi Eat World, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Kings Of Leon, Oasis, Guns`N`Roses. Rory Gallagher, B.B King, Eric Clapton

The ones in bold I really want to replicate.
Im trying to stay away from tubes as best I can but if that is the only way to get the particular sound Im after well then what can I do. It also needs to go into a P.A, Have an effects loop etc, etc. I really need Help so please give me some ideas.

If you're looking to replicate the sounds of the blues giants, you'll probably need tubes. It can be done with a solid state, don't get me wrong, but tubes generally sound *better.*

As was said above, let us know what your budget is. Here are some recommendations though:

$500 -- Blues Junior

$750 -- Peavey Classic 30

$1000 -- Hot Rod Deluxe, Princeton maybe?

My budget is between 500-700.
I should also mention that I am using a strat. I might buy a Tele some time in the future. I would also like 50 watts or more, nothing under that!!

If that's your range, I'd say that you're going to have to go solid state. The bright side is that, for that kind of money, you can get a wicked solid state amplifier. My first instinct would be to go for a used Peavey Bandit 212 and then have some money to spare.

I honestly would save some more, and grab a deluxe, bassman reissue or a twin if you want to lug the sucker around, once you've played a tube amp you wont go back, the difference is amazing! I just bought a 59 bassman reissue, plugged a butler tube driver in, i havent smiled like that in a long time, as far as 50 watts goes just mic your amp through the PA.

Good luck

For that price range and wanting 50 or so watts you are stuck with solid state.

And a 15watt Blues Junior will probably be louder than the solid state if that is what you are after.

Best way is get the sound you want from a small decent amp and mic it through the PA to get the volume levels you want.

First off, 50 watts of tube power is deafeningly loud.If i were you i would go with maybe a blues jr new or maybe a HR or Blues deluxe used.Another option is a 59 Bassman RI used.I bought one used for350, they can go for anywhere from 450 to 900 used. In spite of what others might think, a Bassman is only 7-8 lbs heavier than a HRDX ad it sounds way better.

Sure, the first is a Fender Blues Junior. It is a smallish amp with 1 channel and reverb (15 watts of tube power).A great amp to start out with for tubes.I have one and gig with it some.It is great for the bedroom player too.Only weighs 35lbs. The Hot Rod Deluxe and The Blues Deluxe are 40 watts of tube power and they both have 2 channels plus reverb, there is a clean and a drive channel and a more drive channel on the Hot Rod.These weigh 45 lbs.The 59 Bassman reissue is 45 watts of tube power with 2 channels , a bright channel and a normal channel. There is no reverb and no overdrive channel .It also has 4-10 inch speakers .I t weighs about 53 lbs.If i were in yourshoes , i would go with something like a blues jr and get used to tube amps and how they work.It is in your price range and you can gig with it and play it at home with no problems .You can always upgrade later.Hope this helps.

50 solid state watts is only like around 20-25 in tube amps. My 74 SF Champ at 6 watts is way louder than my GDec 30, or my sons Champion 30 ss amp.
Remember 50 watts is not twice as loud as 20 watts. I gig with a guy who uses an 18 watt Marshall and can blow my HRDlx right off the stage. My Deluxe Reverb can do the same thing. It depends on how much "cut" the amp has. In other words, it's ability to cut through the mix. You can get a used Deluxe Reverb Reissue for under 600 bucks, same thing with a Peavey Classic 30. I would go used tube before a solid state amp. I also would stay away from anything used in the Hot Rod Series. That's just me though and YMMV.
