Hey everybody,

was just wondering if it's really at all worth it to spend the extra buck for a NOS Blues Jr. Is the Jensen speaker much of an improvement?

Thoughts?

I personally think that the Jensen speaker really opens it up and has a bit more clarity and treble. Go to your local guitar store and see if you can test them out side by side.

I'm with "hottrod" the Jensen really does open up everything and in my case eliminates the BJ's boxy reputation!

Apparently that speaker is a major upgrade to the amp :)

The Jensen speaker upgrade is worth it.

I did some of the BillM mods on mine and it really helped the sound, too. The mods make the amp sound like a bigger amp - less boxy.

The speaker costs about as much as the increase so getting the Jenson speaker and putting it in yourself in a regular Blues Jr.is not really worth it. Try it out and see if you like it.

No problem. :)

Yeah, when I saw that for the first time I was blown away. They sound completely different.

I can assure you that the difference is every bit as big as that video portrayed. Why I picked my crappy little camcorder to shoot that video instead of my regular camera is something I still regret, but even through the mangled sound, the difference is quite amazing to me.

I just spent the afternoon and evening playing through my NOS with the Jensen speaker...it really sings, and I've read reviews of the standard BJ where the reviewer didn't like the sound. I'm quite happy that I have the NOS.

I'm leaning toward the Weber.
How do you think the voicing will be,
similar to the Jensen? (which really sounded great & a great A/B video.)
